Turning Up For Your First FREE Lesson!!!

People can quite easily be intimidated by the idea of walking into a room full of strangers and to be honest going to your first class can take more courage than you may think, so with this in mind we feel that a friendly atmosphere is essential and we always try to make newcomers feel welcome. In order to reinforce this students refer to their instructors by name and not by some magnificent title (Master, Sensei or Sir) all our instructors were once beginners so they know what it is like first hand to walk into a new class.

No specialised clothing is needed to start with but we do recommend you wear louse-fitting clothing without buckles and zips for both you and your training partners safety. No student is ever asked if they are going to buy a suite or any other equipment, this is simply your own choice and you will be treated no different to any other student if you do not have a suite or any of your own equipment (we have a large bag of equipment that students can borrow during lessons). It is more important to us that you come to learn and enjoy your training.

Students that want to grade must have a B.M.A.A suite and licence but a student must also have been training with us for the minimum of 2 months. We recommend to parents that have just started bringing their children to train with us to wait at least one month before buying a suite.

This is done because over the years we have seen many people come for two weeks buy a suite then quit before the month is out so we would rather you saved your money. We also encourage students that have grown out of their old suite to sell them on to beginners (it is rare that you get this chance but it dose help save money).

On the topic of saving money we do not have any membership fees unlike some clubs, if you train with us then you are a member (this helps cut down on pointless paper work and saves a tree or two in the process).

As a member of Impact Martial Arts you are not expected to train every lesson you have no reason to phone us if you are sick and are not going to be training or inform us of your holidays, these things are simply non of our business and we would not dream of trying to interfere in your private life. Our members are also free to train at any other martial arts clubs; it is not our place to tell you where you train and who with (we think it is important that our members do not feel restricted).

Competitions & Tournaments!!

Our training is not geared towards sport that much as our main focus is on self-protection. On the rare occasion we do enter no one is forced to compete. Tournament fighting is totally different from real life fighting. Scoring point dose not matter on the streets and there is no referees to split the fight up if things get messy.

Regardless of all the information on this site you will probably still have a long list of questions you would like answering and if that is the case then please do not hesitate to contact us.
